Children’s Classes

Children know something that some adults may have forgotten…art is fun!!  Children naturally approach art with a freedom and curiosity that makes art enjoyable. It is a privilege as a teacher to encourage this joy of learning and growth through artistic exploration and expression.

During these art classes, we spend time drawing and painting, using various mediums such as pencil, colored pencil, and watercolor. We may also use tempura paint, acrylic paint, and collage for various projects.

Children ages 7 years and up are invited to attend these classes.  There is time for individual instruction as classroom sizes are limited to 8-10 students.  We meet one time per week for 1.5 hours and tuition is $40/class. Private lessons are also available and meet one time per week for 1 hour and tuition is $60/class. Tuition is due monthly and there is a once/year $25 materials fee.

Classes are held in Downtown Chico at Chico Art School, 261 E 3rd Street.  Please see below for class schedule and registration.

Adult Classes

Have you been trying to find a creative outlet, but don’t have time for a weekly class?  There are various adult classes, scheduled and posted each month, on Friday and/or Saturday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm.  You can sign up on a class to class basis and there is no monthly commitment. Generally, materials will be provided. Tuition is $40 per 1.5 hour class.  If you would like to bring a child with you for a class, this may be possible, please inquire.

Future classes may include Pour Painting, Dot Painting, Making Dreamcatchers or Suncatchers, and Art Studio time. You can attend on your own or sign up with some friends for a relaxing, creative evening.

Hello, I’m Jessica.

Over the years, I have worked as a teacher as well as a Graphic and Web Designer.  I graduated from California State University, Chico with a BA in English Education.  I taught as a substitute for the Folsom Cordova School District for a year, and then worked for the Seoul Metropolitan Office Education, in South Korea for two years.  I then went on to get a Multimedia Design Certificate from California State University, East Bay. I started Trinity River Design, a Graphic and Website Design business, in 2008.  This has given me the opportunity to use my artistic abilities and talents to work with a variety of businesses, clearly illustrating their identity, so that they may communicate this with their clients. I continue to work alongside businesses in this way as I raise my three amazing children (5, 9, and 11.)

One of my great passions in life, is learning and expressing myself through art. I have taken college level courses, including Intermediate and Advanced Painting, Photography, Ceramics, and Art History.  I have also grown as an artist by attending art classes at Chico Art School, with Janet Lombardi Blixt, alongside other wonderful adult artists, for the last 5 years.  I believe that the act of creating art is not only a skill that can be practiced and improved upon, but it is also therapeutic to the mind, body, and soul.  It is my pleasure and joy to be a part of not only creating, but teaching, and encouraging others in their personal art practice.
